Apply to SASLI

Application Deadline: Friday, April 2, 2010.*

International Student Application Deadline: Monday, March 15, 2010.

Please note that the deadline for the SASLI FLAS and Fee Remission is Friday, February 5, 2010. Your SASLI application must be received by this date to be eligible for these funding opportunities.

SASLI Fee Information

Student applying to SASLI will have two options for making a payment; either an application fee or a down payment. Either option will have to be paid when the student fills out the online SASLI application. The two options are:

  1. Application Fee- a non-refundable $25.00 application fee payable when the student applies to SASLI online. This fee is non-refundable, except in the case where SASLI cancels a class offering due to low enrollment.
  2. Down Payment – a $100 down payment payable when the student applies to SASLI online. This down payment will then be applied to the student’s summer tuition account. In the case where a student later decides not to attend SASLI, the $100 down payment will not be refunded except in the case where SASLI cancels a class offering due to low enrollment.

Option #1 would be preferable for a student who cannot commit to SASLI immediately and may want to cancel his/her application at a later date.

Option #2 would be preferable for a student who is committed to SASLI and would like to save the $25.00 application fee. Since the entire $100 is applied to his/her program fee, there would be no application fee charged.

You will have a chance to select which fee you would prefer after you submit the application.

How to apply to SASLI:

Step 1: Fill out the online application (see link below)
Step 2: Pay the application fee or the down payment
Step 3: Send a copy of all transcripts (unofficial or official) to the SASLI office
Step 4: Write a short statement as to why you would like to attend SASLI (one paragraph minimum to one page maximum)

Transcripts should be sent to: SASLI, 204 Ingraham Hall, Madison, WI 53706. Other materials may be sent via email to: sasli@southasia.wisc.edu

Please note: Applying to SASLI does not automatically make you eligible for either a SASLI fee remission or a SASLI FLAS, each has a separate application process.
