Annual Conference on South Asia: Proposals Open

The UW-Madison Center for South Asia is grateful for your continued support of the Annual Conference on South Asia. We are pleased to report that 2023 brought us closer to pre-pandemic registrations! We continue to listen and adjust to feedback we receive from attendees each year in creating a safe, inclusive space for all, and we greatly appreciate the solidarity and support we have received over the last few years!

We remain committed to exploring different approaches that enhance participation and inclusion for those who cannot travel to Madison. While we continue with plans for a predominantly in-person conference, session organizers will receive additional information in their acceptance letters on how to increase session access for virtual attendees. Links to these sessions will be made available to all registered attendees, and international scholars attending virtually will receive a significantly reduced registration fee.

The submission portal for the 52nd Annual Conference on South Asia will open on Thursday, February 1, 2024, for all proposal types. The theme for this year’s conference is Democracy and Authoritarianism. We invite proposals related to all countries of South Asia across a diverse range of disciplines. The 52nd ACSA is scheduled to meet in-person, October 30-November 2, 2024 (Wed-Sat), at the Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club in Madison, Wisconsin.
